Benjamin Peters

Ben was born and raised in the Bay Area. When he isn’t working on some sort of building project, he spends his time hiking, skiing, or relaxing at the beach with his wife and two sons.

Ben earned his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA in mechanical engineering and spent his early professional years working on commercial steel projects and large-scale art installations. After deciding cubicle life wasn’t for him, Ben made a career change into construction. He honed his craft with several Bay Area builders working on ultra high-end homes. In 2001, Ben became a licensed general contractor and started his own company. He has been building fine homes ever since. Although Ben now spends most of his time managing Peters Design-Build’s in-house construction crews, he is still on our jobsites every day.

Ben’s aptitude for mechanical engineering, his lifelong appreciation of fine art, and his hands-on ethos, have found a perfect marriage in his work at Peters Design Build. He is a perfectionist, who takes pride in delivering an exquisite level of craftsmanship on every job.

Andrew Peters

Andrew is a Bay Area native, world traveler, and Marine Corps veteran with a passion for clean, beautiful spaces. When Andrew is not on an adventure with his three sons, he loves to spend his free time mountain biking or in the ocean surfing and diving.

Andrew first started working in the construction industry over twenty years ago. He spent the last eight years managing commercial and residential design and construction projects ranging from small residential remodels to commercial projects over $100 million in value.

He also has extensive experience managing large scale commissioned public art projects. Andrew served as Project Manager for the international-award-winning “Refract House,” Team California’s entry in the 2009 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon (a project featured in over 600 online and print articles). Andrew holds a Bachelor of Architecture, is a LEED-Accredited Professional, and has achieved a PMP certification.

Andrew loves working with his hands, whether building custom furniture or woodworking. He brings this tactile approach to his work, and stays intimately involved with all phases of the design and construction process.

Andrew’s driving purpose is to design and construct spaces that give their occupants a tangible sense of well-being.

James Turner

James is a fourth generation Bay Area builder, and fine craftsmanship runs deep in his blood. He is an accomplished landscape photographer (@landscapelurking), who craves perfection in every detail. In fact, in his spare time, he can often be found reading books on craft building techniques, and getting to know his new baby boy.

James has worked in the construction industry for over 16 years and received his contractor’s license in 2011. James is well versed in nearly every specialty trade. His broad experience in the trades and assiduous attention to detail make him an indispensable project foreman. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly, and has a keen eye for process improvements in the context of a broad vision.

James takes ownership of each project he sets his hand to. He takes personal satisfaction in ensuring that every team member’s work product is perfect.

Michael Ford

Michael is a distinguished architect, and a Virginia native who is proud to call San Francisco home for the last 10 years. A distance runner and triathlete, Michael is not afraid of stretching his horizons. His spare time is spent exploring off-the-beaten-path parts of the Bay Area and beyond. He also cooks and loves to experiment with new cuisines. He has taken home first prize at a chili cook-off and, more recently, a baking competition.

Michael is a licensed architect with a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. He started his career with Washington, D.C. firms, designing spiritual architecture, mixed-use developments, and high-rise hotel projects. After relocating to California in 2008, he worked at several boutique firms, designing new residential construction, high-end remodels, and restaurants.

Michael’s custom lighting design was displayed at the 2005 International Contemporary Furniture Fair in NYC, and has been published in Metropolis Magazine. He built custom cabinetry for a Brooklyn residential remodel featured in Architectural Record, The Modern Townhouse, The New York Times, and on HGTV.  He took part in the Envisioning Annapolis urban design competition, and the Barker O’Donoghue Master Builders Cabin Fever competition.

Michael believes that good design is beautiful and creative, but is always anchored by a practical understanding of building assemblies and details. He is dedicated to understanding clients’ functional needs to design a built environment that supports and enhances their day-to-day lives.

He is a Bay Area native who can be found on the weekends competing in beach volleyball tournaments and skindiving competitions—or else camping, backpacking, and exploring the globe. John has six years of professional construction experience. He is versed in specialty trades, including carpentry and plumbing. He brings to the job site an athleticism and work ethic nonpareil. Every business owner and foreman who has worked with John has come away impressed.

John finds the process of creating a beautiful product with his hands tremendously rewarding. He aims to please, and takes pride in creating spaces with high standards that exceed client expectations.

Dave Robinson

Dave is gregarious outdoorsman and Bay Area native, who devotes his time to family, friends, and local church. Dave owned and operated an auto repair garage in Walnut Creek for nine years. He often formed long-term friendships with his clients, and the world lost an honest mechanic when he made a career change to carpentry. In his spare time, Dave can be found backpacking and fishing in the mountains with his wife.

On the jobsite, Dave brings a contagious enthusiasm for his work. The crews he works with comment that he brings everyone together as a team.
